The unexpected saga began when Kravitz and her mother, Lisa Bonet, were staying at Swift’s Los Angeles home during the recent wildfires. The pop star had generously offered her house as a refuge, and everything was going smoothly for the two weeks they were there.
Kravitz, ever the considerate houseguest, recalled telling her mom on their final day that she wanted to be so discreet that Swift wouldn’t even know they had been there.
That plan, however, was about to be derailed in the most bizarre way. Bonet, it turns out, had brought her pet snake, Orpheus, with her. The crisis was born when Bonet was in the bathroom, and the snake, having been momentarily set down, decided to make a break for it, slithering into a small hole in the corner of the wall.

Kravitz was called to the bathroom to find her mother in a “weird, crouched position” holding onto the snake’s tail for dear life. As they both frantically tried to retrieve the snake, it continued to slip further into the wall. Realizing they were in over their heads, they called in the house manager.
What followed was a full-blown emergency operation. The house manager, armed with a crowbar, was forced to tear apart the built-in banquette, rip up tiles, and scratch the walls in an effort to get the snake out. Kravitz confessed to Meyers that at that moment, she had a choice: “Either we destroy her bathroom, or I have to tell her there’s a snake somewhere in her house.” They opted for the former.
Eventually, they managed to rescue Orpheus, but at the cost of Swift’s meticulously preserved 1930s bathroom. Kravitz, mortified, promised to pay for all the damages and begged the house manager not to tell Swift until everything was fixed.
But, as is often the case with such memorable disasters, the secret didn’t last long. When Kravitz finally mustered the courage to call Swift and confess, the pop star was already one step ahead. “Is it the fact that you almost lost a snake in my house and destroyed my bathroom?” Swift asked, proving that some stories are just too good to stay hidden.
