Former “Bachelorette” Gabby Windey came out as bisexual on “The View” on Tuesday, sharing that she has always “just wanted to live my truth.”
Windey, who was the runner-up on the 26th season of “The Bachelor” and then co-starred as the Bachelorette on the 19th season, said that she had been thinking about coming out for a long time.
“I’ve always just wanted to live my truth,” she said. “I’ve always been attracted to men and women.”

Windey said that she was inspired to come out after seeing other celebrities, such as Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus, come out as bisexual.
“I saw how happy they were and how free they were,” she said. “And I just thought, ‘I want that.'”
Windey said that she has been met with mostly positive reactions since coming out.
“I’ve had so many people reach out to me and say, ‘Thank you for sharing your story,'” she said. “It’s been really amazing.”
Windey said that she hopes her coming out will help other people who are struggling with their sexuality.
“I just want people to know that they’re not alone,” she said. “There’s nothing wrong with you. You’re perfect just the way you are.”
Windey’s coming out was met with widespread support from fans and celebrities.
“So proud of you, Gabby,” tweeted “The Bachelor” host Jesse Palmer. “Thank you for sharing your truth and being an inspiration to so many.”
“Love you, Gabby,” tweeted Demi Lovato. “You’re so brave and beautiful.”
Windey’s coming out is a significant moment for the “Bachelor” franchise, which has been criticized for its lack of representation of LGBTQ+ people.
“This is a huge step forward for the franchise,” said GLAAD’s Sarah Kate Ellis. “Gabby’s coming out is a powerful reminder that love is love, and that everyone deserves to be seen and accepted for who they are.”
In a statement to PEOPLE, Windey said that she was “excited” to share her truth with the world.
“I’ve always been open and honest about my life, and this is another step in that journey,” she said. “I’m excited to share my story with others and hopefully help people feel more comfortable living their truth.”
Windey’s coming out is a powerful reminder that everyone deserves to be loved and accepted for who they are. It is also a sign of progress for the Bachelor franchise, which is slowly starting to become more inclusive.
