A female stingray was caught accidentally by a fisherman from the Mekong River in the northern province of Stung Treng

The fish with 661 pond weight and 13 foot length becomes the world's biggest freshwater fish

According to Guinness World Records a 9-foot Mekong giant catfish caught in northern Thailand in 2005 had been the heaviest freshwater fish caught

Hogan, the host of Monster Fish on National Geographic Wild said..

"Wonders of the Mekong research team tagged and released the giant stingray back into the Mekong River," 

He also said "We will be able to track its movements over the next year."

This giant freshwater stingray fish was released back into the Mekong River by a team  a team of scientists and researchers
